Caught in the kitchen

Devin finally installed the childproof latches onto all of the cabinets in the kitchen. So now Kayla can't get into them, but she still tries! She pulls and tugs at the doors and just can't figure out why they don't open anymore. It's so cute and funny to watch how determined she is to get inside those cabinets!

Uh-oh! See what happens when we forget to close the pantry door.

Grandma Lily's Visit

My mom came down for Kayla's birthday and stayed with us for 10 days. For some reason alot of the photos we took came out blury. Here are the few good ones.

We took mom to dinner at Cactus Jack's since she'd never been there before and had prime rib (they're famous for it). This picture was taken right after Kayla took a bite of my meat. Of course she liked it and wanted more! But then again, she's never turned down any food that I've given her. I'm so glad she's not a picky eater.

Playing with the wood blocks Auntie Janie gave for her birthday.

Kayla's 1st Birthday Party

Hmmm. I wonder what theme Kayla's party was...

BUTTERFLIES!!! Of course! This cupcake design looked pretty simple when I saw it on the internet, but it seemed to take me forever to make it (I spent too much time perfecting the sprinkles). I'm happy with how it turned out though. I think it's beautiful!

Showing off my masterpiece just before we sang "Happy Birthday."

Yummy!!! Kayla was literally up to her elbows in frosting! What a mess. But at least she didn't get her butterfly dress dirty. Good thing we have a dog to eat up all the cupcake pieces that fell on the floor.

My friend Valerie and her son Roman (who turns 2 later this month) enjoying cupcakes.

This was all we had for decorations. I was going to go get balloons just before the party started, but ran out of time. Oh well, I saved money and Kayla didn't even know the difference.
Here's Connor helping Kayla read the cards.

It's funny how she hesitated to open the presents. She normally LOVES to tear up paper.

Silly girl had more fun playing with the ribbons and bows!
