Oregon Trip

We flew up to Oregon to visit Devin's mom and family for five days. She lives on a 40 acre farm in Sherwood (about 40 minutes southwest of Portland). Kayla enjoyed helping Grandma Evi feed the chickens.

Kayla's first pony ride! At first she was a little hesitant. But after a while, she liked it and didn't want to come off!

Devin loves airplanes so on Friday, we went to the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. Thanks to Evi who has a friend that works there, we got in for free! Seeing the Spruce Goose was pretty amazing. I had no idea how huge it was and that 95% of it was made of birch wood!

Kayla currently has a fascination with seat belts. She loves to buckle them all by herself.

Linae and Lance had us over for dinner later that evening and Kayla got to jump with Carson on their trampoline.
She also liked playing with their cat LaFonda.
Erica and Brian took us out boating Saturday afternoon on Hagg Lake.

On Sunday morning, we went to the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry. Lucky for us, it was free admission that weekend! Unfortunately, that also meant it was super crowded.
It was so much fun and worth paying to go again next time!

Kayla LOVES balls! So of course we had to go inside the ball room.

They had lots of exhibits and hands-on activities for kids.

Voodoo Doughnut in downtown Portland is famous and ever since Devin and I saw it on the Food Network, we've been dying to go there. So here we are waiting in line at 3:30 pm in the hot sun!
Ahhh! Finally, we're inside!

The crazy menu...

After waiting in line for 40 minutes, we get to the counter and they've just sold out of the Bacon Maple Bars! We were so bumbed! So we just got a variety dozen.

Everyone came over for dinner Sunday to celebrate Carson's 2nd Birthday! Kayla and Carson teeter-totter while Elijah and Tyson swing.

Kayla's turn to swing.

Kayla meets MorMor (Devin's grandma) for the first time!
Too bad Kayla is the ONLY one not looking at the camera!

Four generations...

Playing in Grandma's sunflower patch with cousins Sydney, Ellie, and Nathan.

Thank you Grandma Evi and Grandpa Gary (and Milo the doggie)! We had a such great time!

Angels vs. Mariners

Friday night, Devin and I had a date night. We went to an Angels game in Anaheim with our friends Mike and Christian. I know, you're thinking, "but Sarah, you HATE baseball!" And you're right. I would never watch it on TV, but I'll see any sport live. We won 4 tickets at a raffle last month from the charity event Devin's work was involved in. We were so excited to go! Sonya was nice enough to babysit for us.

The excitement builds as we arrive in the stadium parking lot!

All pumped up to see our first MLB game! Go Angels!

As soon as we entered the park, we went straight for the consession stand because there was surprisingly no line. Devin and I had been craving hot dogs and peanuts all day! We wanted to get the full baseball experience. This Bratwurst with the "works" was $7.25 and was worth EVERY penny! Soooo yummy!

On the chart on their website, it looked like our seats were way up in the nosebleed area. But once we got there, we were quite pleased!

Our view of the game was not bad at all.

We got an extra bonus after the game because it was "Fireworks Friday!" We definitely had the best seats in the stadium for the fireworks show and it was AWESOME!

We decided to hang out in the parking lot after the game and wait for most of the traffic to clear out. Plus, the weather was so nice, we just wanted to enjoy being outside for a while before heading back to the hot desert. We had so much fun, we even talked about going again soon!

4th of July Weekend

We started off playing ball with Connor at Michele's house Saturday morning.

Then we went to my friend Debbie's house for BBQ and swim party.

Proudly sporting her red, white and blue on 4th of July. Every time Kayla sees me with the camera now, she stops to pose and say "cheese!"

Since Indio canceled their fireworks show to save money this year, we had to go to Palm Desert. We parked at the Joslyn Senior Center (only a few blocks away from the Civic Park where the fireworks were being launched). It was the perfect spot! We had an awesome view and we avoided all the traffic/crowds. Here's Devin and Kayla snacking on grapes while we wait for the show to start.

So trying to take photos of the fireworks wasn't my greatest idea. I wish I would have thought to switch the camera over to video mode and recorded the show. Oh well, there's always next year.

At least I managed to get a good shot of my favorite, the smiley face!

Kayla has finally learned to play nice with the dog so Roxy doesn't just run and hide from her anymore.
